PMF Names Ron Robinson Most Effective Freshman Legislator of 2025-2026

LANSING, MI — PMF today named State Rep. Ron Robinson (R-Utica) Michigan's most effective freshman legislator, recognizing a first term defined by signed laws and real dollars delivered for Macomb County.

Most new lawmakers spend their first term learning the building. Robinson spent his delivering. As a freshman, he was named chair of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Military and Veterans Affairs, putting him in charge of a department budget in his first year.

He sponsored the $152 million Selfridge Air National Guard Base investment signed into law in May, funding runway upgrades for the incoming F-15EX fighter mission and protecting a base that generates roughly $850 million in annual economic activity. When the funding stalled in Senate negotiations, he kept working both sides of the aisle until it got done.

His bipartisan plan guaranteeing police officers and firefighters who serve in the Guard or Reserves at least 26 days of paid military leave, became law in July. He also championed a first-of-its-kind veterans grant program that's sent $3.7 million to veterans organizations across Michigan, and secured $250,000 for new equipment at the Utica Police Department.

A Marine Corps veteran who served as a military police officer, Robinson previously served on the Utica City Council. He represents the 58th House District, which includes Utica and parts of Sterling Heights, Warren, and Shelby Township.
